چکیده

We have performed a quantum mechanical analysis of travelling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs) in order to investigate five experimental phenomena related their operations, namely the effect impedance mismatch, presence upper idler modes, and thermal noise, generation squeezed states, preservation pre-squeezed states during amplification. Our uses momentum operators describe spatial evolution quantised modes along TWPA. calculate restriction placed on pump amplitude as well amplifier gain result mismatch between TWPA its external system. apply our demonstrate that they will suppressed gain. show an ideal is indeed quantum-limited - i.e. it introduces half-quantum zero-point fluctuation which minimum possible noise contribution for phase-preserving linear amplifier. analyse associated with by considering distributed sources transmission line. predicts doubling high limit wave-mixing signal modes. study operation DC bias current, shown highly can principle be generated. However, amplifying state using non-degenerate generally reduces squeezing advantage.

Parametric Amplification of a Superconducting Plasma Wave

Many applications in photonics require all-optical manipulation of plasma waves1, which can concentrate electromagnetic energy on sub-wavelength length scales. This is difficult in metallic plasmas because of their small optical nonlinearities. Some layered superconductors support Josephson plasma waves (JPWs)2,3, involving oscillatory tunneling of the superfluid between capacitively coupled pl...

The Effects of Nonlinearity on Parametric Amplifiers

Mechanical and electromechanical parametric amplifiers have garnered significant interest, as of late, due to the increased need for low-noise signal amplification in resonant micro/nanosystems. While these devices, which are traditionally designed to operate in a linear range, potentially represent an elegant, on-chip amplification solution, it is not readily apparent that this technical appro...

THEORY OF THE TRAVELLING-WAVE PARAMETRIC AMPLIFIER By Professor

The theory of a parametric travelling-wave amplifier is developed, including the pumping wave explicitly. Particular reference is made to two characteristics of such amplifiers which theories assuming a constant pumping-wave amplitude fail to predict. The first arises from ohmic attenuation in the line, and limits the useful length of line to a length of the order of (ot\a.i)~l, where <xi and 0...
